All Hallows’ Eve

Samhain. All Hallows’ Eve. Halloween. It’s my favorite time of year. Just 6 days before my birthday, it’s the perfect excuse for me to play dress-up and pre-game my way into November, when I celebrate my birthday all month long! Since I did not go all out this year, here’s a quick re-cap of previous Halloweens:

I really feel like I had a very low key Halloween this year, being that I did not dress up and go crazy like I always do or hit up any of the industry club parties. My best friend Shane moved away for work in the beginning of the year, so it was the first time I had seen him in several months. He flew in Friday evening from Las Vegas, and after scooping me up from HoWood, we ventured to our old hood of DTLA. We started at Down and Out, where our friend Steviee fed us tequila shots. After playing catch-up over a few more shots and some drinks, we left to meet up with our old neighbor Ryan Ross at some party down the street. It was pretty dead by the time we got there, and by dead, I mean there were dead Disney princesses everywhere. From there, we went a few blocks up back to our good friend Johnny White’s, where we ended our evening in his library and the rest from there is a blur for me. Most of you already know that I am a hardcore Batman fanatic. I have been, since I was a young little Cruz. I own a huge collection of Batman graphic novels, comic books and an incredible amount of things Batman-related. With that being said, let me start off by saying that I absolutely love Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of Batman. His vision on screen with Batman Begins and The Dark Knight were superb. I have been busy with a lot of stuff lately, and I have not had the chance to acknowledge or send out thank you gifts to those, who have sent me stuff dating back to my birthday and Christmas 2011 as well as the last 6 months. I never ask for anything, but it’s always a pleasure to find goodies from rad fans. You guys are amazing! Some gifts were sent anonymously or with just a name and no return address. More often than not, I hear men complain that their wives or girlfriends won’t let them venture through their back door. Guys try to coax their lovers to let them stick “just the tip” back there, and more frequently, I always hear, “I had to be drunk to do it, and now I can’t walk,” from said lovers. I’M BAAAAAACK

I am a little bummed. After getting hacked, I was unable to back-up and/or salvage the many blog entries I had written in 2009 and onward. Fortunately, I have most of those memories locked up on my hard drive amongst a vast amount of picture folders and secret notes. I suppose I am content with keeping those locked away and starting off the new year on a clean slate. Just in time for the end of 2011, I am back to blogging again so look forward to plenty more. With the new year, it means a fresh new start — saying good-bye to (yet not forgetting) old memories as we welcome new ones.
