Later that evening, I threw on my fabulous new dress and got ready for another adventure.

02 New Dress

Kaylani Lei and I ventured to a lovely French spot in DTLA called Kendall’s Brasserie. Every Tuesday-Friday, they have a Green Hour for Absinthe and $1 oysters. We went for the oysters.

For starters, we enjoyed a tray of 3 different artisanal cheese.

Left to right: Fourme d'Ambert, camembert, bûcheron

Left to right: Fourme d’Ambert, camembert, bûcheron

The fourme d’Ambert is a type of blue cheese, while the camembert is soft and creamy like brie and the bûcheron an extremely buttery goat. All three were quite delicious. I’m a cheese fiend as much as I am a coffee snob.

Calamari Casserole

Calamari Casserole – Espelette, cremini mushrooms, blistered tomato, piquillo pepper

Sautéed baby broccoli and seafood linguini

The broccoli was seasoned to perfection. Whatever they used made it absolutely yummy. The linguini was kind of a disappointment and the least favorite dish by everyone. Can’t decide what they could have done to make it better; we just knew we all had yummier elsewhere.

2 dozen $1 Oysters and ESCARGOTS PROVENÇAL -Tomato fennel fondue, garlic herb butter, Parmesan crust

The oysters were refreshing to our mouths. Among the three of us, we annihilated all 24. As for the baked escargot, I was worried. I had only ever tried escargot one other time, and it was many, many years ago, and I wasn’t sure if I would like it. The buttery garlic flavor made it quite a delicious dish. Click video:

When it was time for dessert, we ordered 1 each, so that we could have a variety, of course.

WARM CHOCOLATE FONDANT CAKE - Espresso sauce, pistachio ice cream

WARM CHOCOLATE FONDANT CAKE – Espresso sauce, pistachio ice cream

OH. MY. GOD. Anything that combines hot with cold is always a winner for me. The warm chocolate cake and the pistachio ice cream was divine. Pretty sure this was my favorite of the 3.

VANILLA BEAN CRÈME BRÛLÉE - Macerated berries

I’m always a fan of crème brûlée, and this definitely did not disappoint.

FLOATING ISLAND - Vanilla sauce, crispy almonds, caramel

This one came in a close second to the chocolate cake. The cake itself was very reminiscent of angel food cake. It’s soft texture dissolved in our mouths with the vanilla and caramel flavors. Mmmmm Definitely will return to this place again. On the weekends, they have $14 bottomless mimosas, during brunch.
