Hollywood

Just recently, I got my bestie Kaylani to join my CrossFit box. Today, we decided to hike to the Hollywood Sign. The last time I did this hike was in April of last year. When we did that hike then, it was nearly a 6 hour round trip. We had initially wanted to take the Hollyridge trail off of Beachwood Dr, but it was closed off due to construction. Instead, we headed for Griffith Park, where we were unsure which trail to take and hence it became a 6 hour journey.

Today, Kaylani and I took two of her dogs and ventured to the sign via the Hollyridge trail, a shorter route, and it took us about 3 hours in total.

Yosemite Day 4: Sugar Pine Railroad

As many of you can imagine, after Wednesday’s brutal hike to the Half Dome, we spent most of Thursday relaxing. As soon as Captain America finished his conference, we drove down to the Sugar Pine Railroad to check it out but not before off-roading it up some random trails we discovered close by. As soon as we got to Sugar Pine, we hopped aboard the last train ride for the day, which took us on an hour long ride down 4 miles…of absolutely nothing. I’ll be perfectly honest, the ride itself was not the most exciting thing in the world. The conductor spoke of the history of the locomotives, which used to haul massive log trains back in the day, and that was the extent of it.

Yosemite Day 3: The Half Dome

Wednesday morning, we meant to get up super early but ended up started our hike to the Half Dome at roughly 6:30am. This was quite the adventure for us both. It all began near Camp Curry, starting on the Mist Trail, where we worked our way on what would be about 9 miles one-way and passed a few horses delivering stock to camp on the way.

Yosemite Day 2: Sentinel Dome

We hiked up the Sentintel Dome – a very easy 2mile roundtrip hike. At the top is a 360 degree view of Yosemite Valley, which was gorgeous. You could see El Capitan, Vernal and Nevada Falls, the Half Dome and so much more. This was like an extremely easy warm-up for what was to come the following day.

Yosemite Day 1: Giant Sequoias

After spending the night at my parent’s Sunday night, we woke at 3am Monday morning and drove out to Yosemite’s Tenaya Lodge, where Captain America had medical conference to attend for the week. We got in around 6:30am. Even though we weren’t staying in the hotel but rather camping, we fortunately had the luxury to use the hotel amenities during the day. I ended up hitting the gym and spent most my late morning by the pool, where I read my book and patiently waited for Cap to get out of his conference.
